You spin me right round baby

(oh yes, very original, I know)

This is what I’ve been doing the last few days. Spinning!

First, the spindle you have seen before, made by Jesh. Blue, frosted resin. After some adjustments to the hook, it spins very nicely (and for so long!)

It holds a sample of pale blue tussah silk that came with the spindle pictured further down. I think I love spinning silk, it’s so amazingly soft and smooth.

The next one is from zebisisdesigns, it has a beautiful Brazilian agate whorl. I have a special place in my heart for semi-precious stones. It holds a sample of some pretty, purple locks that I don’t remember the details about. It also came with this spindle, so two samples and one spindle! It was a happy day indeed.

Close-up of the amazing whorl:

I haven’t attempted to ply anything yet, so that will be next. I keep on postponing it due to being a coward. I’m still very much a newbie at this spinning thing, but am enjoying it, and I tell myself that’s all that matters.

There’s another one on its merry way to me as well… a very light, very pretty mother-of-pearl spindle. But now I’m banned from looking at spindles for a while, it can get quite expensive ;) I just love how they’re like little pieces of jewellery that look beautiful AND can be useful at the same time.

I will never again think people with dozens of spindles are strange.

Yesterday I received the last two figures of the “Gothic Princess” Idolmaster series. Figured I would post them here, since I haven’t done anything useful all day. Unless spinning some lovely silk counts. Does that count? Anyway, no pictures of that now, so here are the pretty ladies, all ready to entertain :) No more toys for a while now – at least not this kind of toys.

(Oh, and I ate chocolate. Twice! How’s that for indulgence?)

Slightly annoyed at myself

I was going to make a pretty needle roll for my new DPNs today. I cut the fabric. Then I couldn’t find the iron, so I thought “screw it, not meant to be, argh” and went back to the computer.

Then I remembered where the iron was. It only took me a couple of minutes to remember. And even at that, I simply did not have the patience anymore. I’m so cranky, it’s not even funny. Especially when it comes to sewing things. I have at least 3 projects ready worked out in my head, I just do.not.want to sit down and make them.

I need my sewing mojo back! It’s been missing ever since I had 2-3 failed projects in a row, a couple of years ago.

See that? That picture over to the right? –>

That’s how far I got. At least I managed to make a mess, so I accomplished something today!

Pen porn

I finally caved in and took pictures inside of all my pretty pens. I mean… I do have a few more, but these are my favourites at the moment. Look at all the colours! I would have done nice, daylight, clear pictures, but nooo, today had to be all grey and stupid.

Oooh, look. I played a little bit with the colours in this one, sorry if it burns your retinas.

Close-up of some, with no messing around with the colours.

All of them spilling out of the pencil case. Which is huge, and still has space for more!

Some of my silly little doodles I did, mostly with my brand new Uni-ball Signo DXs. Will be getting a few more of those… but then no more, because really, I need to enjoy what I have for a while :D That’s a cool cat with sunglasses and a bandana, btw, he just used his ninja-skills to get a fish. And that sideways gnome is angry that you forgot his obligatory payoff of the day, so he’s throwing all your important notes in the garbage.

Now I’m off to do some laundry  conquer the avalanche that’s threatening to take over the apartment. If you don’t hear from me, send help. And cookies.

Just a quick note

I moved my pattern sales from Etsy to Ravelry. All this means for you, is that you either go to Ravelry and buy through there, or you can click on the “patterns for sale” tab in the right corner. All my patterns are listed with “buy now” buttons that will take you to PayPal. You don’t have to be a member of Ravelry to use this service :)

Ninja-bun is packing his bags!

Pucca is finished!

Now I only need to get her a pretty frame :) I used a Paint Shop picture frame to give you an idea, since I’ll probably forget to take a picture once it’s framed. It will look like that, only better!

Next I’m going to make a whole bunch of tiny game sprites or something equally small, since I have at least 8 VERY small frames that I want to use. They have magnets on the back, so yay, fridge magnets! Either I get higher count Aida cloth, or I just make pixelated things. I like the idea of tiny tiny cross-stitch, but don’t have the patience to wait for an order of fabric to arrive. So pixels it is!

The giveaway deadline is getting closer, will you be the lucky winner?

Lookie what I found!

Sally was being hermit kitty in an empty box. She didn’t react at all when Jeff lifted box + cat up and gave to me, just stayed in there, all twisted into a little ball of kitty.

Today is a pink day! (and a little giveaway)

My very favourite colour is still purple, but not everything comes in purple (I know, the horror!)

First, adorable package from nothingelegant on etsy. She’s the provider of ninja-buns, and it only took 10 days to get all the way from Korea to me.

Isn’t that the neatest handwriting ever?

Meet my pink Zune (original, even, it has a pretty Catalina Estrada engraving on the back), along with its friends ninja-bun, pair of socks and strawberry! Because it just wouldn’t be complete without some dangly crap. Besides, ninja-bun is useful.

The neck strap is a knitted i-cord, it took me forever to make! I almost lost my patience, but like the trooper I am, I carried on! And on. And on.

Oh, you were wondering about the giveaway? Well, see, I can be a complete dork most of the time sometimes. I first ordered a soft pink ninja-bun, because I thought that would look oh, so neat with my Zune. Then I received it, and found it way too matchy-matchy, like I tried to match everything perfectly, but failed.

So I ordered another, hot pink bunny. Much better! But now I have a very lonely, unemployed ninja-bun, who would like nothing more than to keep your cords free of tangles!

All you have to do to adopt him, is to comment on this post. And maybe give him a name, I heard even cool ninja-buns like names! They feel more loved that way.

The winner will be chosen next Monday, so make sure you leave your comment before midnight (EST), Sunday May 10th. Nothing beats the Monday morning blues like adopting your very own ninja-bun!

A little bit of progress

puccaI haven’t done much the last few days (aside from being horizontal a lot), but my little Pucca cross stitch is starting to take shape anyway! To think I expected this to be a one-day project. Right. That didn’t happen!

We did go to a very nice restaurant (warning: website all in French moonspeak) the other day, so don’t you go thinking I spent the whole week asleep, I saved some time for eating as well!

The restaurant is brand new, only been open for a couple of weeks. I loved it! The whole thing is in an old house, it’s small, quiet and cozy. Everything looks very early 1900s, with old wood, a harmonium in a corner, old black and white pictures of the owners relatives etc. And the food? Amazing. The owner/chef obviously loves what he does. He experiments a lot with tastes and textures, so a lot of the food did not taste what I expected (but in a good way!) Needless to say, we’ll be going back. Next time I’ll take pictures.

In other news, Wii Fit is on its way to me as we speak. I should have it in a week or so. I doubt it will make me very fit (let’s not expect the near impossible), but at least it should get me off my butt and moving around a bit! Because I don’t think walking to the fridge and back counts as exercise.
